KY 9-1-1 Kids Education Project
Kentucky's 9-1-1 Education for Children Program has three goals:
1) To educate students about the 9-1-1 services available to them in their area.
2) To help students distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate times to call 9-1-1.
3) To reinforce 9-1-1 to students until dialing 9-1-1 becomes an automatic response for emergencies.
The long-term range of our success hinges on teaching student how and when to dial 9-1-1. The importance of parents and teachers to the program must not be underestimated as they are an integral part of the reinforcing process.
We believe this curriculum will help explain the importance and benefits of 9-1-1. The program we've provided is flexible and can be adapted to a variety of learning situations.
9-1-1 offers the following benefits:
1) It is the one and only number to remember in an emergency.
2) 9-1-1 can be taught to children who can not read.
3) 9-1-1 is a free call from all public pay phones.
